Lena Delta (winter), Russia
The Lena Delta, with a size of about 45,000 square kilometres, ranks among the largest river deltas on earth. Sediments carried downstream by the river Lena are deposited in the delta and force the river to continuously find new ways to the sea, pushing the delta ever further into the Arctic Ocean and creating its fan-like shape.
